Makar Sankranti, also known as Uttarayan, is a vibrant and auspicious harvest festival celebrated across India. This joyous occasion marks the transition of the sun into the zodiac sign of Capricorn, symbolizing the end of winter and the arrival of longer, warmer days.

The festival is marked by various cultural rituals. In Maharashtra, people exchange tilgul and greet each other with the phrase "Tilgul ghya, god god bola," meaning "Take sesame seeds and speak sweetly." This emphasizes the importance of sweetness in both words and relationships.

Makar Sankranti also highlights the significance of respecting and living in harmony with nature. The use of natural materials in the form of kites made from bamboo and paper aligns with the festival's traditional values, promoting eco-friendly celebrations.
