 राजा रानी, बाग में बैठे थे।  सुबह थी, चिड़िया चहचहा रही थीं, मोर आसपास विचरण कर रहे थे। राजा साहब चाय पी रहे थे।  रानी ने अखबार खोला।  देखा... संसद की खबरें थी, हेडलाइन छपी थी कि "संस्पेंडेड दल ने सरकार बनाने का दावा पेश कर दिया है"।  दरअसल, हुआ यूं कि हफ्ते भर से अजीब तमाशा चल रहा था। कोई सांसद मुंह खोले, उसके पहले ही संस्पेंड कर दिया जाता। हाल ही में अपने प्रिय मसखरे को राजा ने सभापति बनाया था, जिसे अब इज़्ज़त की लत लग गई थी। ●● पद है !! कुर्सी है !! पर इज़्ज़त नही है... उसे ये बात बहुत खलती थी, लेकिन सांसद उसकी नकल उतारते, ट्विटर पर ट्रोल करते और सभापति के अहम को चोट भी पहुंचाते। ठीक है...कि वह आजीवन मसखरा ही था पर यह बात कहने की तो नही होती न, मज़ाक उड़ाने की भी नही होती है। सांसदों को उसकी नहीं तो उसके पद की ही... कम से कम महंगे कपड़ो और जूतों की इज़्ज़त करनी चाहिए। तो उसका अपमान, राजा का अपमान था, राज्य का, राष्ट्र का अपमान भी था। तो अपमान करने वालो को सस्पेंड करने की राजा से खुली छूट मिल गई। इसके बाद तो सभापति ने कहर ही बरपा दिया।  तो अखबार में खबर यह छपी थी कि सभापति

आजादी का समय, बरसों का स्वप्न, खुली हवा में सांस, औऱ ऊपर लहराता तिरंगा। सोचने में आता है कि फहराने वाले के मस्तिष्क में क्या चल रहा होगा? वह जो नीचे खड़े हैं, तिरंगे को देख रहे हैं, नेहरू को देख रहे हैं, उनका दृश्य सीमित है, विशाल सच्चाई तो दूसरी ओर से दिखती है। क्योंकि ऊंचे किले की प्राचीर पर खड़े होकर, दूर तक दिखता है... ये विशाल जनसमूह !!  जो वोटर नहीं, कार्यकर्ता और समर्थक नहीं, मुग्ध श्रोता भी नहीं हैं। उन्मादित गर्वीलों का जमावड़ा नहीं है, ये दीन हीन, आर्थिक- सामाजिक रूप से निचुड़ चुका एक राष्ट्र है। अंगभंग के ताज़े रिसते घाव के साथ, घिसटते हुए भी जश्न मनाने आया है। वो खड़ा होकर तिरंगे की लहरों के संग डोल रहा है। अपने देश, अपने नेता की जयकार कर रहा है। यह डराता है। अगर आप मनुष्य हैं, तो बिलकुल डराता है।  केंद्रबिंदु होना, वो भी आशा से भरी लाखों आंखों का, आसान थोड़े ही है। क्या नेहरू, दबाव महसूस कर रहे थे? इस किले से कुछ दूर ही, हथियारों के साथ कुछ लोग, आग लगा रहे हैं, घाव बांट रहे हैं और शिकार खोज रहे हैं, उनकी भी एक विचारधारा है। या शायद नहीं है…. कुछ का आक्रोश है, कुछ के लिए मौ
