 A sudden catastrophe in the Himalayas Nepal has been left confronting a major humanitarian emergency after a devastating flash flood swept through parts of the country's Himalayan river valleys on 26 August. The event began in the high mountains and rapidly developed into a powerful surge of water, mud, rocks, and debris, moving downstream through narrow valleys with little time for communities to react. The disaster was concentrated around the Lhende Khola and Bhote Koshi river systems before the flood moved into the Trishuli corridor. Nepal is facing a major natural disaster after devastating flash floods struck areas near the Nepal–Tibet border. The Rasuwa district has been among the worst affected, with floodwaters causing widespread destruction to roads, bridges, buildings and other infrastructure. The disaster has also raised serious concern in India, as more than 100 Indian nationals have been reported missing. Authorities are continuing search and rescue operations to locate missing tourists and evacuate people stranded in affected areas.   What Happened? The flash flood surged through the Bhote Koshi River in Nepal's Rasuwa district. Citizen journalism stands for news or information that is witnessed by someone and produced by people in society who are not professional journalists. They usually use smartphones and social media platforms to share it. It has become so powerful, and the reason is very obvious: everyone has a smartphone and the ability to post anything, anytime.
