The Amazon rainforest is broadly defined as the tropical forest in the Amazon river basin and adjacent lowland in the north eastern part of South Amarica . This area amounts to roughly 8 million square Kilometres ( 3.1 million square miles ) and covers some 40 % of the nearly the size of the unites States. The Amazon rainforest includes parts of eight south America countries Brazil , balivia , Peru , Ecuador , Colombia , Venezuela , Guyana , and Suriname as wall as French Guiana . A department of France more than three - fifths of the Amazon rainforest lies in Brazil .  The Amazon is by for the worlds biggest rainforest, covering more twice the area of the Congo rain forest , which is the second biggest rainforest on the planet . You may see some larger rain forest animal's for example, brightly Coloured poison dart frogs are found widely in the Amazon basin. These tiny Ampibians are highly toxic from the insects they eat , so their colors serve as a warning to potential predators

  Impact of Tehri Dam  The Tehri Dam is located in the state of uttrakhand. It is the highest Dam of India with 260.5m . The Dam is situated on the river Bhagirathi. As India commemorates 101 years of ghostly incident in the history of pre-independence that took over 100 of lives, the residents of the sikh holy city, Amritsar, are yet to recover from unforgettable pain. On 10th April, 1919 two nationalist leaders- Dr. Saifuddin Kitchlew and Dr. Satya Pal were arrested in Punjab under the in famous Rowlett act. On 13th April, 1919 people gathered in a small park in Amritsar which was called the Jallianwala Bagh, to protest against these arrests. the peaceful gathering was attended by men, women, and children. General Dyer, a British military affair, stationed a regiment of soldiers at the only entrance of the park, declared the meeting illegal and without any warning ordered his soldiers to fire.
