Understanding the G20: A simple guide The G20 or Group of Twenty is like a big global team meeting. It is a group of 19 countries and the European Union that come together to talk about important stuffs or issues. The G20 is made up of 19 countries named Argentina,Australia,Brazil,Canada,China,France,Italy,Japan,Mexico,Russia,Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea,Turkey,The United States, The United Kingdom and the European Union.These countries are some of the biggest and the most influential in the world. They meet to discuss important issues like the economy, trade, climate change, world health, and more. It is a meeting of world leaders to solve global problems. One big focus is the economy. The G20 countries make up a huge part of the world's economy. They talk about how to make it better for everyone and how to prevent financial crisis like the 2008 one.All the leaders or representatives discuss global challenges like climate change ,ozone depletion waste management, terrorism and health crisis like COVID-19 . They try to find common solutions and help each other out.The G20 doesn't have the power to make laws ,but they have a lot of influence. When they agree on something, it often sets the direction for the rest of the world.The G20 is like a big table where countries with different ideas and interests come together. It's all about taking and finding common ground.They have big meetings called summits, where leaders from these countries get together and make important decisions.Each year one member country assumes the role of their G20 presidency, and its leader becomes the host of the G20 leaders summit for that year.The presidency rotates among the member countries, and they work together to set the agenda and priorities for the G20 during their presidency.
