Challenges in Journalism perspective: ethics and safety
India has barely been a safe house for writers & journalist. For quite a long time, writers have been confronted compulsion, and dangers from in the public authority as well as private ones. Many of them have been killed for raising their voice against the immorality.
No big surprise India
is the third-most dangerous spot for a writer, behind Iraq and Syria. In any
case, something appears to have changed this September. Gauri Lankesh, a
Bengaluru-based senior writer and editorial manager of the Gauri Lankesh, was
gunned down outside her Home on Sept.05. Surprisingly, culprits are shamelessly
encouraging this assault on journalists.
If we talk about early
journalism then earlier journalism were not threatened by any one. There were
honesty, truthfulness and most importantly freedom of speech. comparing today
with the early scenario things have been changed drastically. Nowadays,
journalists are not fearless they have some kind of terror in their mind and
heart. This creates barrier to their job. Journalists are not only to make you
aware about the information but also to unfold the truth.
Yesterday the country
was a slave, a journalist free, but today the country is free and a journalist
a slave. Yesterday, when a
journalist sat down to write, the pen did not stop, but today the journalist
himself stops while writing because as much as the journalists were not afraid
of strangers in the past, they are more afraid of their loved ones today.
Earlier journalists had to be fearless and bold but now journalists are
suppressed. Today if any journalist writes any article that content passes
through high officials and others in course of time. The quality of content has
been deteriorated and is deteriorating day by day.
Once journalists were
known as mediators now they are viewed as either with us or against us. Therefore,
many journalists have sacrificed their life. One should not forget
the real meaning of journalism. If the country has freedom of speech and their
journalists are fearless then that country is a democratic country.
