NEWS ANCHORING
An anchor is also known as news reader, news anchor, anchorwoman or anchorman. The main purpose of an anchor is that he\she present news during a news program on television or on radio or on the internet.
Here are
some elements of anchoring
- Pause – A pause may refer to a rest or a temporary stop. Having pause in your statement is a must. Many people don’t give importance to pause but pauses are really very important and when it comes to news anchoring pauses are must.
- Clarity – An anchor should have clarity in his\her news. Until and unless the words are not clear the listeners won’t be interested in listening the news.
- Speed – now, speed is something that ultimately depends on the anchor. Different anchors have their own speed. For e.g, Sudhir Chaudhary speaks with a low pitch. His way of speaking is very subtle, slow and calm. And that suits him as well. If we see another example then one of the top ranked journalists Amish Devgan speaks very energetically and may get super active. But people also like his way of speaking as well.
- Breathing – Breathing is somewhat people does not pay attention to. But it is an element of anchoring.
If we
talk about who are news anchors then they are journalists who inform the public by reporting news stories and
events happening on a local, national, and international level. Mostly people
think that anchoring is all about reading news. But it’s not just what it looks
like. Anchors have to prepare themselves a lot before coming on screen. They don’t
just have to speak properly but also have to dress properly. They should have
proper makeup, dress with confident face and amazing presence of mind.
An anchor should do anchoring with credibility. It’s really
important for an anchor to have credibility. Until and unless people won’t believe
on anchor’s words then no point of doing anchoring. Anchor/Presenters
work at the front line of television and radio. They introduce and host
programs, read the news, interview people and report on issues and events. As
the number of channels and radio stations increases, so do the openings, but
opportunities to become a Presenter are still scarce and competition is fierce.
