National Broadcasting Day

National Broadcasting Day is celebrated on 23rd July.  Radio has played a vital role in everyone’s life. Radio has been the main source of entertainment at that point of time. Let’s keep aside the music part people do not listen to radio only because of music but also because of radio jockey’s excitement and energy. The way radio Jockey express their feelings through voice was one of the most mesmerizing thing ever could feel though.

Radio broadcasting began during pre Independence. During British era it was difficult for British to communicate with larger audience. Radio was also the source of entertainment and education as well.  Radio played a vital role for making India free from the British rule. The way English people did tyranny to Indians was very heartbreaking. But still Indians faced everything very patiently and slowly they fought back for their rights and freedom. If there was no radio or broadcasting then it was not possible to gain Independence. This was all about the past.

Now if we discuss about the present scenario then India has developed a lot in broadcasting media. We have many electronic media platforms. We have more than 326 radio stations in India. Multiple television company with so many different channels. Our top radio broadcasting service is AIR. That is All India Radio which was officially known as AKASHVANI in 1956. It has the largest radio network in the world, and one of the largest broadcasting organizations in the world in terms of the number of languages broadcast. We can observe how much India has developed in terms of technology. If we talk about another radio broadcasting service then Prasar bharti is also one of them. AIR is the division of Prasar bharti which was previously under government control. Prasar Bharati also includes Doordarshan, the famous national television network that aired hit drama series like Ramayan and educational programs like Surabhi.

National broadcasting day has one of the greatest celebrations in India.
