Sreejesh one of the greatest Indian hockey players of all time was in tears after India clinched a thrilling 2-1 victory of Sapin .
His goalkeeping was phenomenal; he stopped every attempt by Spain proving that no one could breach his formidable defense. This was particularly significant as it was Sreejesh’s last game, making it even more crucial for him and the team.
The first half saw both teams locked in a 0-0 stalemate. However, the game heated up in the second half when Spain took the lead with the first goal. Despite being behind, India demonstrated its fighting spirit by earning a penalty corner. Our captain, Harmanpreet Singh, seized the opportunity and scored, leveling the match at 1-1.
As the third quarter began, India quickly earned another penalty corner. Harmanpreet once again delivered, scoring another goal and putting India ahead 2-1. The defense, led by Sreejesh, held firm for the remainder of the match, securing the bronze medal for India.
