The Conjuring: Last Rites
The Final Chapter of the Warren’s Horror Journey
The Conjuring: Last Rites is the newest and final film in the popular horror series. Directed by Michael Chaves, it brings back Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) for one last scary case.
The Story
This time, the Warrens face the Smurl haunting in Pennsylvania. A family is troubled by a cursed mirror that brings strange voices, shadows, and even possession. Ed is weak with health problems, Lorraine struggles with her psychic visions, and their daughter Judy plays an important role in fighting the evil.
What’s Good
Strong acting and emotional connection between the Warrens.
Classic Conjuring style horror with jump scares and a creepy atmosphere.
A proper ending that ties the story together.
What’s Not So Good
Slow in the beginning.
Some scares feel familiar and predictable.
Strong Box Office Earnings
During its opening weekend worldwide, the film grossed about US$194 million, with around US$84 million coming from the U.S. alone, and the rest from other countries.
Up to 14 days after release, it grossed around US$362.3 million globally: about US$138.2 million from the U.S. and US$224.1 million from the rest of the world.
Final Word
The movie may not be the scariest of the series, but it’s a fitting and emotional goodbye. If you’ve followed The Conjuring movies, this last ride is worth watching.
