Parenting amidst the Pandemic
This year turned out to be a period of dilemmas, doubts, fears and uncertainties for every single being. Amid the growing tension and burden parents across the world can be seen as more worried about their children.
There are two major aspects of them being encumbered. First, now it is not only the responsibility of parents to nurture and look after them but also to keep their children occupied around the clock which was previously taken care of by schools and playschools. This is also a test of imagination and creative skills of parents. This task moves to a higher level when we talk about young kids who are full of curiosity and their never-ending thirst of doing something new. As soon as the lockdown was implemented in many cities around the globe, a multitude of videos surfaced online showing the innovative ways through which parents are keeping their children occupied. And this itself is quite a test of parenting.
Yet, another aspect parents have to keep in mind is to take care of their naive one's mental health by keeping them inside the four walls. With the continuous influx of negative information from literally everywhere, parents need to keep their kid's spirit high and to make them optimistic about the coming days. These past few months for sure have strengthened the relationships between many families, with parents being more vulnerable and honest to their children. Showing them how intimidating and daunting life can get but how to still find hope amidst all.
In a letter penned to parents Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie said, " it is a lovely thing to discover your children don't want you to be perfect. They just want you to be honest...they love you, they want to help you. So, in the end, you grow together."
