Gukesh Honoured by Tamil Nadu CM M.K. Stalin

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin felicitated Gukesh Dommaraju, India's newly-crowned Chess World Champion, in a ceremony and presented him with a cheque of Rs 5 crore.

Gukesh thanked the Tamil Nadu government, Chennai’s chess community, and the city’s Grandmasters for their unwavering support, acknowledging their crucial role in his historic achievement.

Celebration in Chennai for Gukesh's Historic Victory

After returning from Singapore, Gukesh held a celebratory roadshow in Chennai. The 18-year-old grandmaster became the youngest-ever World Chess Champion.

Fans filled the streets to cheer for him, and he received a grand welcome at Chennai Airport. The new champion, along with his parents, traveled in a specially decorated vehicle, showcasing his remarkable success.
